There are all sorts of options available to property owners these days when it comes to having new driveways installed, but one of the most popular materials of late absolutely has to be resin… and it’s certainly not hard to see why!
The benefits associated with resin driveways are very hard to ignore, everything from being permeable and SuDS compliant to being colour stable, slip resistant, weed resistant and frost resistant, easy to maintain, smooth, flat and hard-wearing… the list goes on!
However, over time you might start to think that your driveway is looking a little lacklustre and perhaps showing its age a little. Don’t despair if this is the case – there’s a lot you can do to bring it back to life, looking like new once again.
Firstly, you can extend the lifespan of your resin-bound driveway by looking after it and doing some regular maintenance work. This doesn’t have to be taxing and all it really needs is a regular sweep down with a stiff broom to remove debris and dirt that could contribute to moss growth.
Using a pressure washer a couple of times a year can also breathe new life into the space, getting rid of any nasty dirt and marks that could result in stains if left to their own devices.
If you’ve got any particularly stubborn stains like tyre marks, get some white spirit and give them a scrub before washing away with the pressure washer or hose. You can actually do a lot to prevent these from happening in the first place by not turning the steering wheel when the car is stationary.
And finally, if you’ve got any moss growing on the surface, mix up some bleach with water and power wash the pests away! Again, prevention is better than cure in this regard, so make sure there are no plants or shrubs creating shady areas over the surface of your driveway that could encourage growth.
